GuerreandShalomBooks

About the imprint

Guerre is the French for war, and shalom is the Hebrew for peace. The journal had the name first. The books took it from there.

Who does what

Daniel Clarke-Serret finds the books, edits them, and serialises them in the journal. Mitzpe Press publishes them in print and as ebooks. Authors keep the copyright in their work, and nothing of theirs runs anywhere until they’ve signed.

Why a name of its own

The imprint has its own name on purpose. Our authors publish under a label that stands for argument, debate, and range. Mitzpe Press’s own list stays what it is.

What we publish

  1. Open to argument. A house that only publishes people who already agree with each other isn’t worth reading. Our writers disagree and we like it that way.
  2. Committed to the State of Israel. The Jewish State doesn’t exist by permission.
  3. Against the genocide libel. Lying isn’t a political opinion.
  4. Free to criticise anyone. Writers can say what they like about any politician, Israeli ones included.
  5. Non-partisan. We aren’t a wing on the political spectrum. We just want the spectrum to continue existing.
  6. Anglo-Hebraic. If a book belongs to the civilisation, it belongs on the list. It doesn’t have to be about Jews or Israel. It does have to believe in a Western future.
